The legal department of the Florida Department of Citrus interacts with the citrus industry, marketing and state agencies on all regulatory/legal issues. It is responsible for all rulemaking issues, interpretation and compliance with Chapter 601, Florida Statutes, Chapter 20, Florida Administrative Code and the Florida Sunshine Law. Activities include the licensing of citrus fruit dealers and responding to the regulatory needs of the citrus industry. In addition, the legal department is responsible for reviewing all Department contracts and marketing materials.
Florida Citrus Code
The Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC) is an executive agency of state government established in 1935 by an act of the Florida legislature as the result of an industry request. The act, called
the Florida Citrus Code, 601 F.S., states that the FDOC's purpose is to protect and enhance the quality and reputation of Florida citrus fruit and processed citrus products in both domestic and foreign markets.
